Bart Proost

Biography

Bart Proost is a Belgian comic book artist with a number of comic book series and one-shots on his resumé.
Bart lives in the city of Lommel (where he is the official City Draftsman), in Flanders (B). He was born in 1977. Between 2000 and 2010 he mainly did illustrations for magazines, papers, private clients and educational publishers. But from 2011 on, Bart started focussing on his passion: comic books. From 2011 up until now Bart has made 4 succesful albums in the humoristic genre about ‚Alexander The Great‘. Sometimes these books were solo projects, other times they were written by Barcas (Antwerp – B). In december 2019, their fifth Alexander album will be published by Dutch firm Strips2Go. In 2015, Bart made a solo graphic novel about the prologue tot Hector Malot’s classic ‚Sans Famille‘. This one-shot was titled ‚Alone in the World: Chavanon‘. This critically acclaimed comic was issued by Belgian Saga Editions (from Bruges). In may 2019 Proost launched another project together with writer Verhast (Ghent, B) and Colourist Criva (Tongres, B): one-shot ‚Kaspar Hauser: in the eye of the storm‘ tells the story of the German foundling Kapsar hauser, who appeared in 1828 in Nürnberg and who – to this day – remains one of the biggest mysteries of the 19th century…
In this year’s Comiciade Bart will present all of these books. He will happily sign and dedicate them… 😉
